Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. I brought this to pair along side it's big brother, the 61 La Chapelle. Deep, dark and almost opaque. Notes of dark black fruit, mocha, cranberry. Nice floral notes too. Rich and silky in the mouth, and grew with airtime. Side by side, this definitely has similarities to the 61 next to it. Needs 10+ more years to gain more complexity. The next day this was still singing. 95+

Tasted blind alongside another bagged bottle. This is also dark ruby, more more opaque than the 90 Chave next to it. Very refined nose with dark fruit, some wood and a green olive thing that differentiates it from the Chave (and from other 90 La Chapelle's I've had in the past). I guessed this as the 90 Chave before both 90 Hermitage bottles were revealed to us. There is definitely some bottle variation with these 90 La Chapelle's as I've had better samples, including a better one not that long ago. The green olive thing was interesting and not necessarily desirable, at least for me.

Soft plush plummy fruit. Tobacco and some gnarly savory notes. Intense and great balance. Really sexy and lush. An extremely good bottle.

Dark reddish tawny. Mostly opaque. Great reddish regal color when the light hits the glass. Notes of black cherries, blueberries, cranberries, slate stone, moist earth and a little menthol. Velvet glove in the mouth. Amazingly rich with tannins totally integrated. Silky. Flying high from the moment it was opened. 6 hours in this is getting bigger and more complex. Definitely the best performance I’ve had with this wine.
