Ruby-red. Oak-spiced red berry liqueur, cherry, pipe tobacco and vanilla aromas are complemented by a smoky topnote. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, displaying velvety texture and plush black raspberry, cherry-vanilla and fruitcake flavors. At our gathering again last night we opened this 2009 Faustino I Rioja Gran Reserva. A blend of 92% Tempranillo and 8% Graciano. On the nose there was blackberries, black cherries, black olives, spice, tomato and earth. On the palate the was blackberry, black cherry, black plum, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, oak, spice and loads of earthiness. This wine is full bodied with medium to medium + acidity and medium + mouthcoating grippy tannins that gives a long dark fruit earthy finish. It was so nice to spend time with close friends and enjoy some fine Tempranillo. Stay safe and healthy in the week ahead and we will see you again next weekend. Nostrovia!

A very nice bottle to accompany our anniversary steaks. Not as strong/spicy as I’m used to w Rioja, but very drinkable.
