Luigi Vico’s great-grandparents purchased land in ‘Prapò’ in 1927. One of Serralunga’s more renowned vineyards (it is also a MGA), ‘Prapò’ faces east at some 1,050 feet above sea level, and is best known for wines that are driven by finesse. "The vines in Luigi Vico's east-facing Prapo plots are exposed to the gentle morning sun, giving a wine that feels fresh and generous, its flavors of mentholated cherry and strawberry tinged with hints of iron that reveal the wine's Serralunga character." - Wine & Spirits

The 2019 Barolo Prapò is laced with dark red cherry fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and a host of savory/mineral underpinnings that add complexity. In this tasting, the 2019 comes across as a bit tight and nervous, but that should not be an issue for readers who can be patient. The muscle and drive of Serralunga really come through on the finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)
