Very unique nose with lots of savory elements like mushrooms, braised meat and carmelized onions! Fine tannins, drinking nicely!

Popped and poured; consumed over two days. Day 1: this was reticent. Yet, the quality was obvious with silky tannins and a pureness about it that encouraged me to pause and, in a rare case for me with Barolo, I placed the cork back in the bottle and figured I would check back with it the next evening. Day 2: this had opened to reveal fresh black berries, dark cherries, orange peel, roses and spices on the nose. On the palate, it was dark cherries over berries and minerals with a salinity to the finish that was rather awesome, actually. Towards the end of the bottle, it seems the structure was beginning to build again and I can only assume the Barolo roller-coaster ride would have continued. Too bad I ran out. I'll certainly be seeking more of this. Drink now...with some patience or hold our for more.

Showing beautifully right out of the gate, even though it’s so young. Classic Barolo characteristics, tart cherry, violets, tart raspberries and a touch of earthy tones. I can only imagine what would happen in 10 years time.

Just wow! I need a case of this. Very pretty nose and sooo smooth. This is what I love in a Barolo. If you like finesse then this is for you! SS

Classic Verduno. Floral aromas jump out of the glass, along with herbs, leather and tar. Tart, crunchy red fruits with tight, pulling tannins. A young entry-level Barolo that is still quite young and austere, even on the second night. Powerful yet lean Verduno that requires at least another 5-7 years to show resolution, balance and true harmony. I’m excited for that.

Generally like this producer but this is my second bottle of the 2013 and both have been somewhat disappointing. Lighter in the glass, but even with a long decant the tannins are pretty dusty. Just doesn’t quite come together.

I generally like Fratelli Alessendria. Was hoping this 2013 barolo would be at the 9.3 - 9.4 level but not quite there. On the lighter side for barolo, both in terms of the fruit as well as the overall body and finish. Still a nice wine and a good pairing with some pheasant and elk loin, but slightly disappointed.

Wowza! Even though youthful, unresolved and somewhat closed, this wine exudes beauty and finesse in the making. More old world in style, a pretty translucent garnet color with fine but noticeable tannin. Semi-ripe cherries, leather, and mushroom with hints of orange peel and rose petals. As others have noted, quite Burgundian in style. Strongly recommend, and plan to revisit in 3-5yrs.
