Domaine De Gouye Vieilles Vignes Saint Joseph Syrah 2016

$40

Winemaker Philippe Desbos selects fruit from his oldest Syrah vines, some as old as 100 years, for this special cuvée. The estate’s same non-interventionist approach applies: fruit crushed gently by foot, very little added sulfur, aged in neutral barrels.

Matt Lasater Delectable Pro

Exemplifies the 2016 vintage for N. Rhône, balance of concentration, elegance, and perfume. Nose is great combination high-toned/savory notes of peppercorn, bay leaf, woodsmoke, bramble, crushed blackberry, violet, candied olive, licorice candy. Palate confirms the nose, spice-driven, young and taut with its mineral and earthy tones driving through the finish. Tannins have great texture and power with some pliancy to them, approachable now
