With its perch at the highest point in the appellation, its impeccable terroir and unforgettable amphitheatre of vines, Pibarnon unquestionably crafts the finest Mourvèdre-based wines in Bandol. A selection of younger vines, organically raised on the same terroir as the estate’s Bandol Rouge. “Restanques” are the terraces where Mourvèdre vines grow in the estate’s natural amphitheater.

Dark ruby in color with medium intensity. Red fruits on the nose with tobacco and chocolate notes. Dry on the palate with red and black fruits, light wood, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, earth, tobacco leaf and herbs. Nice finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This is a very tasty Mourvedre based blend from Bandol. Rich and elegant, fruity and interesting. Complex and well balanced. Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A blend of 70% Mourvedre and 30% Grenache, from 30 year old vines. Aged in large French oak barrels for 18 months. Unfiltered and unfined. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $55.

Second wine from Pibarnon and a stunning effort. Still quite nervous but time will solve this easily. 70% Mourvedre and 30% Syrah
