When people talk seriously about “natural” wines, they talk about the organic wines of Mas de Gourgonnier. In the heart of Provence in the 1970s, this family estate was one of the first officially certified organic wineries. A richly flavored red with autumnal aromas, plush red/black fruits and peppery spice. Few other Provençal reds can match the power and grace of this bottle (its form a traditional Normandy “Calvados” shape that only Gourgonnier uses).

I haven’t had one of these in a minute. It’s as delicious as I remember it to have been. Cassis and dark berries, together with roasted herbs and iodine garrigue-like scents on the nose. Soft and intense in the mouth. Loads of savory clingy flavors in the mouth. Conjures up being in Provence (where I haven’t been in decades and need to get back to). Love this.

Great rose, right up my alley. Grenache, Syrah, complex flavors that give you what you need from a rose!
