Boudignon has become a real star producer in Anjou andamp; Savennieres, in addition to his day job managing the cellars at the esteemed Chateau Soucherie. His wines are bracing, mineral and graceful and a we always present them as a good crossover for Chablis drinkers. This comes from 35+ year vines in Anjou grown on schiste, and is finished in barrel without malolactic to maintain its stylish, upright character.

Holy Moses this is the stuff. All kinds of citrus and green walnut notes and whopping mineral assortment on the nose and in the mouth. Intense body and richness layered on electric beams of acid. Lots of dry extract. Whisper of sweetness on the finish. Finish just won’t let up, hangs in your mouth like lemon taffy. This wine is on fire right now; it’s like a world class orchestra that’s just tuned up.

Wine as art. Wine like the book you reread or the movie you rewatch and find something new each time, except with sips. I will restrain myself so I can try it over a couple days but ohhhh Boudignan how I love your work. Acid lasers cutting honeycomb onto beds of greens like lemon verbena composed in sheepskins (lanolin!) in a pear orchard. Rich complex and every sip is a new season in the orchard revealing new things. Omg this wine. It makes me MAD. Because I only got one bottle of it.

This lives up to the hype. A wine you could write paragraphs about, but suffice to say is excellent. There is a tension and energy here that almost takes your breath away. Classic flavor profile - super mineral, with orchard fruit in the nose and citrus in the mouth. The searing acid here almost feel like tannin on the finish. A challenging, beautiful, and unique wine. The enamel on my teeth was a small price to pay.

Classy 2017 Anjou Blanc by Loire legend Thibaud Boudignon crafted from 100% Chenin grown in grey schist and volcanic soils in Anjou (his centuries old cellar and most of this vineyards are located in Savennières). Fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and aged in 300 and 750-liter barrels (30% new) for 15-18 months. Green apples, citrus, marked minerality, almost unnoticeable oak. Clean, precise, structured, marked minerality, great depth and length. This is Loire Valley Chenin at its finest
