San Fereolo is a small biodynamicandnbsp;estate in Dogliani, the DOCG that sits just to the south of Barolo. Nicoletta Bocca is rightfully known for her exceptional (and exceptionally age-worthy)andnbsp;Dolcetto. She releases this wine on a similar schedule to when most are releasing their Baroloandnbsp;Riservas. As you might expect, this is no simple lunch wine, and serves as the most important wine she produces at her property. The wine ages for three years in large barrel before resting for another 3-4 years in bottle in her cellars. The vines here are between 40-80+ years old, and the wine always shows exceptional intensity and complexity, proof that Dolcettoandnbsp;in the right place and in the right hands can be every bit as serious Nebbiolo.andnbsp; andnbsp;

Rich, ripe, and resolved tannins. Has Brett, but does not over power.

The best expression of dolcetto I’ve had. It was even better on the third day. Thanks @Chris MacLean !

A serious biodynamic Dolcetto. Muddled berries and dark fruit, tobacco, cedar, leather and a touch of Brett. A stand-out.

Singular expression. Dark and meaty without any flab. Biodynamic and given some proper age. Helen’s Wine Club strikes again

Wow. Never had a dolcetto like this - biodynamic production with 20 days of maceration with spontaneous fermentation (without temperature control) followed by 3 years in large Slovenian botte AND THEN 4 years of bottle aging - this was a chewy, gamey wine with dark fruit. Not my favorite wine ever but such a surprise I really enjoyed it.
