Peter Lauer Stirn Faß 15 Riesling 2019

$50

Florian Lauer, of Weingut Peter Lauer, is one of the most exciting of the next generation producers in Germany, crafting Riesling in the Saar with a signature weightless intensity, His estate is centered on the steep slate-covered hillside of Ayler Kupp, just off the Saar river from which he makes numerous different bottlings in strikingly diverse styles. Stirn occupies the top of the hill, 300 feet above Unterstenberg on the same face of the slope.andnbsp; It is a much cooler site that supplies bracing acidity, which Florian allows to find balance with a fair amount of residual sugar. In 2019 the wine sports riper than usual aromatics while still retaining great tension between residual sweetness and laser focused acidity. Don't be afraid to lay a few of these down to enjoy in the 2030's and beyond or pop a cork today to enjoy with some spicy Szechuan food! Sweet

All lime. Lime juice, lime zest, limestone, sweet citrus finish with good acidity. Tasted next to Ayer Fab 2. Much more complex, and good.

2019. Restrained aromas with a hint of petrol, but once in the mouth it’s all citrus and stone fruit flavors. Delicious! A little more sweetness than I expected, but it worked great when paired with the Vietnamese marinated pork tenderloins we made for dinner.

Spatlese level sweetness in a nicely complex package of citrus fruits (especialy grapefruit), peaches, slatey minerality, and a little smoke on the finish. This is only going to get better with time in the cellar
