The Schonfels vineyard is approximately a mile away from Ayler Kupp, though the wine authorities have historicallyandnbsp;grouped the two together; not until 2014 was Lauer allowed to list the different Lieu-dit on the label, after Florianand#39;s long-fought battle. Situated on a very steep slope of gray slate that faces south-east, overlooking the Saar, the vineyard is extreme in its placement, not protected by forest the way the most famous of the Saar vineyards are; resultingly, the grapes are able to be harvested later without the influence of botrytis, as the winds will dry the vineyards out more quickly.andnbsp; Dry.
