A very enjoyable red wine from Italy. Showing black and red fruits with earth, vanilla, oak, licorice, spices, coffee, pencil lead, earth, vegetables and peppercorn. Dry and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs and teeth staining color. Still showing enough acidity to age for many years. Very enjoyable by itself or with food. Needs an hour to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle. 15% alcohol by volume. 92 points.

Super intense, mushrooms, bit of tobacco with an incredibly long finish.

Wow, excellent wine from Paolo Bea. 15% alcohol but all hidden behind the wealth of fruit. The wine has a beautiful, complex nose, a velvety mouthfeel, a long finish and no sense of heaviness whatsoever. Drinking superbly at the moment. Outstanding. Ps: we drank this wine alongside a Percarlo 2007, which is no doubt a wine with structure, but it's still a bit heavy... and, in my view, needs time in the bottle. Both wines weren't decanted, which wasn't ideal... But on this occasion il Pagliaro outshone il Percarlo.
