Noble and Murat's 'house style' is astutely classic with results that can only be achieved with a small scale of production. The grapes are hand harvested and foot trodden in granite lagares, a technique that has been replaced by mechanization for all but the most prestigious (and expensive) Ports. The wine is bottled after 4 years of aging in ancient chestnut barrels (almost 2 years longer than your average vintage port) - hence the term 'late bottled vintage'. The generous brambly berry fruit is nicely cut by earthy, herbal overtones. This wine is sapid and savory, displaying considerable depth for such a modest price tag. LBV ports can continue to age in bottle in the short term compared to the decades it takes for vintage port to mature.
