Monthélie-Douhairet Porcheret "En Champans" Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

$69.98

Andrandeacute; Porcheret, whose name was affixed to the Monthelie-Douhairet domaine at the request of their long-time owners, has held some especially prestigious positions in Burgundy over the years. He ran things in the cellar at the Hospices de Beaune for nearly 20 years and made wine at the legendary Domaine Leroy for five years. Heand#39;s been inandnbsp;caretaker role at Monthelie-Douhairetandnbsp;since the late 80s and now runs the domaine alongside hisandnbsp;andnbsp;granddaughter, Cataldina Lippo.andnbsp; Champansandnbsp;is one of the great sites in Volnay, a stony vineyard that routinely turns out some of the most textbook examples of the village, farmed most famouslyandnbsp;by Marquis dand#39;Angervilleandnbsp;andamp; the de Montille family. This and#39;15 is a bright, punchy example with delicate framing spice and excellent length. We couldnand#39;t believe the price when we saw it and itand#39;s quickly become a go-to recommendation at the shop.
