The Zanetta family have been involved in the wine trade in Alto Piemonte for several generations and purchased Monsecco in 1993. They've made great strides in bringing the property back to its former glory, and the '13 vintage marks the first inclusion of two plots in especially high quality vineyards that they recently purchased (Osso andamp; Alice). This is a shimmering example that marks an exciting new level for these wines. The wine shows beautifully already with some air and will perform with special grace for several decades in the cellar. This is a blend of grapes from several vineyards in Gattinara, fermented in stainless steel and aged for more than 3 years in older wooden barrels of varying sizes. Itand#39;s a nervy, vertical specimen at the moment that begins to reveal its mystery with some time in the glass. On the nose, youand#39;ll find fresh earth and savory spice. On the palate, the wine leans towards crunchy red fruits, with an especially fine-grained texture and some sneaky, sleek tannins on the lengthy finish.andnbsp;
