In the hallowed valleys of Vouvray, Michel Autran is somewhat unheralded, but heand#39;s unlikely to remain a hidden gem if he continues turning out such breathtakingly complete Cheninandnbsp;Blanc as weand#39;ve encountered over the past few years. After 20 years as an ER doctor, he was bitten hard by the wine bug and hasn't looked back. Learning at the altar of Loire masters such as Francois Pinon, Vincent Careme and Ludovic Chanson, among others, Michel gathered enough knowledge to confidently purchase a hectare and start his own eponymous winery in Vouvray in 2011, releasing his first vintage in 2013. The 2016 Ciel Rouge is a stunning, special Chenin Blanc that we're almost reticent to advertise for selfish reasons.
