Tonight's wine is the 2014 Matthiasson Linda Vista Chardonnay. I had this bottle 4 years ago and now it has shown a little more age where it is starting to soften up and the fruit is ripening. On the nose I am getting pineapple, jackfruit, lemon, honey, beeswax, vanilla bean, praline, caramelized sugar and saline solution. On the palate I am getting lemon, white peach, pear, herbs, honeysuckle, citrus, beeswax, almond, wet flint rock and minerality. The wine is medium bodied and still a good freshness to it, medium + acidity that moves right into a medium to long citrus finish. We are halfway through our third week of seclusion and it is getting a little more difficult but we need to make the best of a situation we had no control over. We will all get through this and come out on the otherside better for it. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia!

I was immensely surprised when I had my first sip of this "Francophile's dream" of a Chardonnay. Gorgeous star bright golden color, and a pretty, soft nose - lilies, lemon zest, and honeysuckle. The pallet is fairly acidic, but balanced with candied lemon and pineapple fruits stealing the show, and light notes of marangue and a very crisp tart finish. I'd say that it had a very nice similarity to Mâcon-Village, with similar alcohol, and similar acid. It is by far one of the best values in the Chardonnay world, and atypical of Napa Valley in my opinion, which is refreshing. It'll need a couple more years before it's showing its true potential, but even in youth it is fantastic. Bravo, @Steve Matthiasson

Lush aromas of raw almond, stone fruit and lemon leaves. Juicy acidity, good length and discreet minerality followed up by persimmon, yellow kiwi and chestnut. Lovely wine with good aging potential. A joy to drink.

Tonight's wine is the 2014 Matthiasson Linda Vista Vineyard Chardonnay. On the nose I get lemon peel, green apple, yellow apple, some minerality and a hint of sourdough bread. On the palate there is fresh squeezed lemon juice , granny smith apples, melon rind, a touch of honey and minerality. Medium + acidity and a long fresh clean finish.

Burgundy on a budget, and from Napa no less. I would never blindly call this Napa Chard. This wine is clean, crisp, delicate, and precise. Great acidity and the minerality comes through. Are we really in the New World? The neutral oak and 2/5 malo just enhances the wine beautifully and gives it softness and elegance. Drink it while you can, because I'm going to buy as much as I can afford.

This might be the best CA Chardonnay I've had (imo), particularly for the price. Pure, unadulterated flavor- crisp, clean fruit with no butter or oak.

Still searching for that holy grail. A little hard at the edges. Always seems like I'm listening to Ornette Coleman when I drink these wines.

Fair disclosure, I sell this wine in our wine shop, but there's a good reason @Steve Matthiasson
