What struck me most about this epic wine was its sheer scale, youth and power in an elegant even supple frame. A nose of chocolate and dark red fruit led a wide beam of the finest and sweetest tannins I can recall. Cocoa grounds, light oak, graphite and cigar leaf and a lonnnnng finish. Outstanding, years to go.

Great bottle of wine, but felt far too young to drink. Needed 4-6 hours of decanting

In a great place right now. Ripe but structured. New appreciation for Merlot.

2001 Tenuto dell' Ornellaia Masseto merlot. Drank during date night at Vincenti. Decanted about an hour before drinking, but it was still massive. It was a gorgeous wine though- full bouquet of fruits and rich tannins. Loved it!
