Federica and Cesare Pino moved back to Mount Etna in 2005 to resurrect Cesare's family's masseria, the traditional Sicilian farmstead. Their goal was to be as self-sufficient as possible, growing olives, vegetables, and grains in addition to grapes. Over the years they have managed to develop a surplus of wine beyond what they need for personal use, something we are very grateful for. Cesare is crafting some of the most pure and elegant Etna wines we have encountered, from a small plot of vines planted over 100 years ago.andnbsp; This wine has become one of our favorite Etna Rosso bottlings in the past few years and the 2018 is sensational.andnbsp; Elegant and lifted, with pure fruit and piercing minerality, this is classic Etna Rosso. We were surprised to learn that this wine was made entirely without the addition of sulfites given its sheer elegance.
