Lapo Berti La Morra Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

$68.98

Lapo Berti runs a small domain in Barolo's La Morra commune, expertly crafting Nebbiolo using natural methods. Tuscan by birth, Lapo worked in Oregon, Australia, and Burgundy before settling down in Barolo to found his own estate in 2012.andnbsp; He attaches great importance to the health of his soils and farms his plots organically intentionally fostering native flora and fauna alongside his vines.andnbsp; The 2016 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is the first vintage that has been imported to the US and we were immediately struck by its classic poise. We found all of the fragrant red fruit and floral potency we'd expect from a great La Morra Barolo alongside alluring spice notes and just a touch of blood orange.andnbsp; The wine was lush and round on the palate with vivid acidity and crunchy tannins.andnbsp; All in all, it is a remarkable bottle of Barolo and a great entry to this young estate.andnbsp; Fermented in a mix of Stainless steel and open top demi muids without temperature control and aged in big botti.

New producer to us. Very well done with good density and balance, mineral, fresh, crushed flowers and asphalt, some anise and topsoil notes. Needs time in bottle or a long decanting. Cool stuff.
