Guímaro Camino Real Ribeira Sacra Mencia 2016

$26.99

Guimaro lost 90% of his fruit from hail storms in '16. This is the first incarnation of this wine as there wasn't enough fruit to comprise his single vineyard cuvees. Mostly Mencia, but also includes Merenzao (aka Trousseau), Brancellao, Alicante Bouschet and others. Perfumed nose, savory fruit and nice mid palate make this a great gateway to the region.

Lighter and more bright than the inky color would let on. Definitely has that smokiness to it. Didn’t enjoy quite as much as the first time I tried it but my be some bottle/cork variation with this one.

Juicy red fruit, dried leaves, a bit of black pepper, vibrant acidity, and tannin.

No notes but lively acid, drinking very open, dark cherry. Like a good bojo cru in terms of fruit vibrancy but with mencia funk under the hood. A wine for drinking.
