Girolamo Russo was established in 2005 by Giuseppe Russo, named in honor of his father who had grown grapes but had not produced his own wines commercially. When Giuseppe founded the winery, Etna was just beginning to go through the revolution in quality and attention that is ongoing today. He has always striven to make distinctive, terroir driven wines of the very best quality possible.andnbsp; A Rina is an Etna Rosso comprised of a blend from the three contradas that Giuseppe farms: San Lorenzo, Calderara Sottana, and Feudo.andnbsp; It is fermented and aged in a mix of steel, cement, and 26 hectoliter botti and bottled lightly filtered.

From the slopes of Mount Etna, a wonderfully racy and refined red wine with smoky and mineral overtones. Red fruits too.

Savory to start and fruity/juicy to finish. Some underlying smokiness, tar, light red fruit.

It starts with allspice and cloves. Then the fruit emerges: cherry, red licorice followed by red earth and volcanic goodness. It ends on a pleasantly bitter note. Rustic. Pretty. Easy to drink.
