Federico Curtaz Gamma Etna Bianco Carricante 2016
After collaborating with Angelo Gaja as an agronomist for over a decade, in 2015 Federico decided to start his own project in Sicily. This parcel of Carricante comes from the eastern slopes of Mt. Etna, near Milo. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. With its notable balance of texture and acidity, there is lots to like here.

A perfect example of a low alcohol (12%) wine that can pack a punch. A variety of citrus scents that transition effortlessly to the palate. Mandarin orange, grapefruit, lemon all draped in a robe of saline and smoke. To top it off, an extended and lingering finish.

Pale straw. Beautiful aroma of citrus (lemon), white flowers, white pepper/ginger and yellow pear. In the mouth is medium plus and shows beautiful balance and tension and minerality. With time in the glass some herbal and saline notes emerge and the finish acquires almost a honeysh profile. One of the most interesting carricantes I’ve tried from Etna.
