Fattoria Cigliano di Sopra Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2017

Cigliano di Sopra is the family estate of Maddalena Fucile and her husband Matteo Vaccari in the Val di Pesa Chianti. The property was largely abandoned until the couple returned in 2016 after stints working at historic estates in Tuscany (Fontodi and Isole e Olena) and in the US with Rajj Parr and Sashi Moorman at Domaine de la Cote and Evening Land.andnbsp; They quickly worked to reinvigorate the property, beginning the lengthy conversion to organic farming for their 32 hectares of vines. As of yet the production is still extremely limited with only a few thousand bottles produced but the results speak for themselves. Bright red cherry fruit jumps out on the nose with subtle hints of blood orange and thyme.andnbsp; The palate is lifted, with bright acidity and elegant tannins and a fine, mineral finish. A lovely bottle of Chianti from a very promising estate.
