This is 36% Grenache, 38% Mourvandegrave;dre, 18% Syrah and 8% Carignan from 40+ year old vines in Cairanne, the smallest of the Cotes du Rhone villages. Cairanne is defined by an eastern exposure and a higher elevation than most places in the CdR, so the wines enjoy a more lifted character than you'll normally find in the area. Richaud's version shows notable power and ripe fruit with a spicy side that gives it plenty of complexity and admirable balance.andnbsp;

This is the version without sulfur dioxide added. Very fresh with a little caramel note, some aldehydes but very fresh

While it might need to open up a bit, the vintage provides a generous body of fruit. This is an honest and mature wine that any wine lover would appreciate.
