Domaine Monier Perréol Châtelet Saint Joseph Syrah 2019

$62.99

Domaine Monier-Perreol is a partnership between Jean-Pierre Monier based in the village of Saint-Desirat and his close friend Philippe Perrandeacute;ol. Both were earlier adopters of Biodynamic farming practices, with Jean-Pierre incorporating them in 1996, eventually encouraging themandnbsp;to cease selling fruit to the local co-op and begin domaine bottling in 2001.andnbsp; Now they stand as some of the most exciting, and certainly some of our favorite, St. Joseph on the market today. In addition to contributing to the St. Joseph Rouge, Philippe supplies the partnership with the Chatelet cuvandeacute;e, a wine drawn from a high elevation vineyard of limestone and granite soil. Chatelet typically sports a seemless fussion of elegance and poise with supple fruit and ripe flavors.andnbsp;80% of the fruit is destemmed before fermentation with 3-4 weeks on skins. aged 11 months in a mix of new and old, large and small barrels.

Opaque ruby. Spice-accented aromas of red and dark berry preserves, cured tobacco, olive and a smoky mineral overtone. Sappy, sweet and fleshy on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry-cola and floral pastille flavors with a touch of licorice. Steadily emerging tannins give shape to the persistent finish, which leaves behind sappy dark berry and exotic spice notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2022)
