Domaine Génot-Boulanger Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2017

$99

Gandeacute;not-Boulanger's Chambolle-Musigny parcel is found in the southern end of the village, an area that tends to yield more elegant expressions Chambolle. The vineyard was recently replanted to Pinot Fin, the local small berried Pinot Noir that has come back into favor after being largely abandoned due to its low yields, albeit of very high-quality fruit. The wine shows beautiful lifted aromatics with pure red fruit and roses with just a hint of Rosemary on the nose. Quite silky and plush on the palate but with great acidity and no hint of new oak.andnbsp; Lovely when tasted in the fall, this wine will continue to blossom nicely over the next decade. Destemmed fruit, 10 - 15% new oak, barrel fermented, aged in barrel for 12 months without racking.andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp;

Very nice chambolle but I wouldn’t at this point say that it’s great. Decanted for 3+ hours. Nearly an equal mix of strawberry and light cherry on the nose and palate. Has a real core of minerality that carries through the wine and persists. Nice finish, but for some reason every 3rd sip I get just a *hint* of sweet oak which is not welcome. Maybe a few more years would even that out. Excellent with roast chicken and mushrooms.
