Severn Goodwin
Nose has wet oak firewood, warmed yellow apple, cold caramel, candied citrus, lemon zest, cooked lemon and oxidized green apple. Palate has lemon peel, warm lemon, sandstone, yellow apple, warm pineapple, saline solution, perceived tannins (?), yellow apple peel and light honey. Nice acidity and a long finish. Decanted +2H, notes at ~3H. I don't think this bottle was on the same level as our prior 2011, drink up. As noted previously, always look for the less notable Village and vineyard sites from your favorite high level producers, chances are good they're making a great, under-the-radar wines with pricing to match.
