Today the 13 hectare Domaine des Ardoisieres is in the capable hands of Brice Ormont, a Champagne native who has found his calling in the breathtaking terroir of the Savoie, where the vines sit on steep, terraced slopes at the foot of Mont Blanc. The extreme setting and growing conditions provide for some miraculous wines that we can't seem to get enough of. Their importer likens drinking these wines to andldquo;tasting freshly squeezed juice running off a glacierandrdquo; and that's about as accurate a description as we've come across. The wines have a freshness and clarity married to a drive, complexity and intensity that is unreservedly world class. Argileandnbsp;Blanc comes from west facing 40-year-old vines ofandnbsp;Jacquere, Chardonnay andandnbsp;Mondeuseandnbsp;Blanche. This is aged for 9 months in 1/3 oldandnbsp;barriquesandnbsp;and 2/3 in tank. The wine is bright, flinty, nervy and intensely mineral. Think top quality Chablis with a bit more texture. andnbsp;

Chablis like... delicious... long finish. Muted aroma but some clean green apple and pear. Lots of minerality on palate. Touch of strawberry on the nose?

Two-faced, bringing rich, creamy notes on the nose and an unrelenting minerality on the palate.
