The 1993 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru was a real surprise given that I have meted out criticism for the wines from this era. It has a mesmerizing nose with wild strawberry, raspberry and rose petal scents that feel youthful and exuberant. The palate is fleshy and beautifully balanced, supple and has delightful, seductive rondeur. It crescendos towards the finish that is armed with killer delineation, completing perhaps the best Musigny that de Vogüé oversaw that decade. Tasted blind at the Wallace brothers' Xmas dinner. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2023)

Dark crimson tawny. Regal looking. Exotic nose. Notes of bing cherry, raspberries, iron, menthol, roses and a little camphor. Quiet in the mouth at open, gave it 4 hours in the decanter and the structure powered up. Silky wine with amazing perfume. My first taste of the 93 and it’s perhaps the best Vogue Musigny I’ve ever had. Still young in its journey Give it a lot of air if opening now, but it’s easily got a few decades in front of it yet. This is the real deal!

Bottle #1. unbelievable nose and drinking extremely young in a powerful vintage. No evidence of bricking and a perfect amount of acid. This seems very young still. Vogue Musigny is my favorite producer and favorite wine period.

Great to try a week after the 90. But underwhelming.

1993. So nuanced and so powerful. The group all guessed this wine (blind) to be 20 years younger.

#balleradvent grand finale! Beautiful wine! Amazing concentration of fruit and mouth-watering acidity but completely weightless. A masterpiece.
