Domaine Comte Abbatucci Cuvée Collection Ministre Imperial Red Blend 2016

A blend of native Corsican grapes sourced (along with 3 other cuvees) from a 2 HA plot that was planted by Antoine Abbatucci (Jean-Charles's father). As he saw people abandon their land (and in consequence the local varieties found there) in the 1960's and 70's he made an effort to grab massal selections of rare Corsican cultivars left behind.andnbsp; Now this small vineyard is a sort of time capsule/nursery to Corsica's vineyard heritage. 60 year old vines in granitic soil, farmed biodynamically. Hard harvested, foot trodden, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tank, and aged in large, older barrels. Deep and complex, with fruits ranging from bright strawberries to dried cranberries, floral and herbal notes on the nose, with savory notes of tobacco and leather, and a long, mouth watering mineral finish. In total between the 4 cuvandeacute;es sourced from this plot, around 1500 bottles are produced. Very special bottle.
