The Billard-Gonnet estate is run today byandnbsp;septuagenarianandnbsp;Philippe Billard, who has been working his familyand#39;s vines since he was 16 years old. Production is old-school but precise, and the wines themselves are both imminently age-worthy and elegant enough to drink in their youth. Pezerolles sits on the Beaune side of Pommard, and Billard's 45 year old vines are mid-slope, close to Clos des Mouches. Billardand#39;s rendition shows the brightness and some of the forward character associated with Beaune rouge tied to a firm thread of acidity and a polite earthy/iron inflected side. Itand#39;s an excellent value as well for such a classic expression of a top vineyard.andnbsp;
