Domaine Batard-Langelier is a family-owned estate based southeast of Nantes in France's Loire valley. Their 24 hectares of Melon de Bourgogne are worked by hand and have been in conversion to organic agriculture since 2014. They make a traditional Muscadet, fermenting and aging the wine in underground cement vats to preserve the freshness inherent to the grape. This bone-dry, crisp white is a classic pairing for oysters on the half shell but would be extremely well suited to any seafood or fresh cheese.

A lovely muscadet we opened for some a Christmas mussels, quickly becoming one of our favourite traditions. A beautiful nose of melon and citrus with a surprisingly clean palate, hint of lemon, nice acidity that finishes perfectly with our Thai-basil-coconut mussels.
