Division Winemaking Company "Trois" Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

$55.99

Division Wine Making Company is another of our favorite urban wineries in Portland, founded in 2010 to make terroir-driven wines from organically farmed grapes. Temperance Hill Vineyard is an esteemed site in the Willamette Valley, planted over an extinct volcano in a warmer microclimate that allows for ripe, brooding fruit lifted by great acidity. The 2016 andldquo;Troisandrdquo; Pinot Noir is a classic example with lush, perfectly ripe fruit, spicy tones, and just a hint of resinous herbs. Full bodied for Pinot, it still has plenty of lift and freshness. Much more suave than most wines we see coming out of Oregon, Division's 2016 Temperance Hill Pinot caught our attention right away.

Glistening ruby-red. A hugely perfumed bouquet displays an array of ripe red and blue fruit, exotic spice and floral pastille qualities, along with hints of musky underbrush, smoky minerals and hoisin sauce. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, which offers sweet boysenberry, candied plum, spicecake and dark chocolate flavors that become livelier as the wine opens up. Manages to smoothly balance power and delicacy and finishes with outstanding clarity and youthfully tannic persistence. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2019)
