Clos Saron Old Block Home Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

$81

Gideon Beinstock is the mastermind behind Clos Saron, a property dedicated to natural farming and winemaking nestled in the Sierra Foothills of California. The Old Block is what drew Gideon to this area in the first place, a small parcel of own-rooted Pinot Noir planted high in the hills of the Sierra's wildly mixed soil of clay, volcanic ash, granite, and quartz. The Pinot Noir from this parcel is rustic, earthy and frankly a bit wild but with undeniable charm and sheer energy behind the rich black cherry fruit. This is full bodied and has a fair amount of tannin for Pinot but also has deep mineral tones and quite a bit of lift. 588 bottles of utterly unique Pinot Noir produced in 2012.

Light in body yet a powerful Burgundian style. Revisiting this wine after 3 years of additional cellaring. Ranier Cherry, stone, bright acidity. Still needed a multi-hour decant

2012 on march21, 2017 after a one hour decant. Wow, rose petals, bright acidity, more earthy than fruity, medium body. I really like that it's 12.6% Alc. Extremely small production ( 588 bottles ).
