Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2016

$23.99

This estate founded in the 15th c. is a benchmark domaine and pivotal in creating the Candocirc;te de Brouilly appellation. andnbsp; While many neighboring vineyards are on the valley floor, these 50+year old vines are on very steep slopes over crumbly, blue volcanic rock. This wine is rockin' in its youth as well as with some age on it.

Flower balance. Big for a Beaujolais but at the same time elegant.

I love this wine- fresh, nice stem character, spice, earth, hint of game, bright blue and red fruits, tons of flavor, clean, more body than you would expect for a Gamay and full of flavor. Wines are always wonderful from Chateau Thivin- one of my favorites.

Light bright ruby. Intense, sharply focused aromas of raspberry liqueur, lavender and succulent herbs carry a zesty mineral overtone. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering nervy red berry, blood orange and floral pastille flavors that are underscored by suggestions of licorice and allspice. At once powerful and elegant, finishing with excellent tension, persistence and harmonious tannins. The interplay of power and finesse here is quite impressive. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2018)

A bit bigger with more ripe strawberry jam taste than other gamay. But as it opens up, floral and mineral notes come in to balance. Nose is wonderful and earthy. I really enjoyed this.

Great fruit, medium-finish. Great with Molly’s maple-orange pork chops.

Juicy, bright, and flavorful. Touch of spice and tartness towards the end. Dangerously easy-drinking.

Quality-mark in premium part of Brouilly. This wine is closer in style towards Burgundy P.N then actually Beaujolais. Wine is medium bodied and has beautiful concentration of berries and fruits, elegance and balance. Wine is georges overall

Floral, red fruits, med + acidity, classic bojo. But still very young and think it will improve with a few years of age
