Only great bottles. But this is as good as this has ever shown. Superb and quintessential mouton.

From 6L bottles. One 6L was, very sadly, corked. The other was good though Far from great or even particularly noteworthy. Paled by comparison to the Margaux and Latour 6L bottles tasted contemporaneously.

An uninspiring vintage from an inspiring producer. Lacking density

After the initial stink blew off, the wine emerged magnificently. Still youngish with a great future.

I've never been a big fan of 1989 Medoc 1st growths and this doesn't make me change my mind. After 60 min of air this shows a beautiful nose but the palate just lacks a lot....

RWOTN. Bretty, funky nose blows away revealing the tell-tale rich left bank soil, volume, smoke, dried fig and voluptuous dark fruit. I think '89 Mouton has been derided in the past and while it is no '89 Haut Brion no wine compared to it in terms of class, character and sense of place last night. Thank you @Scott Kahn
