This really came into its own on the second night (on the first I decanted for an hour or so, but still felt quite austere). The wine shows no sign of its nine years of age, a fairly rustic expression of the (predominantly Merlot-based) blend with enough fruit to give it longevity. Very full, well balanced and enjoyable. Would enjoy revisiting in eight years. Even the ‘lesser’ wines from 2010 continue to impress.

Beautiful tertiary notes, mushrooms, forest floor, leather, cease box, tabacco leaves with restrained red fruits. The tannin is slightly bitter but very firm and dusty. A bit hallow on the mid palate but solid one.

Ch La Vieille Cure Fronsac 2010 is drinking with such youth and concentration, it almost seems as young as it did 3 years ago. Could go for another 5 years at least. Paired with Canard L'orange. Yum

Rugged, tannic, and a bit lacking on the mid palate. Needs time to come around.

Fresh black fruit, charcoal, impossibly tannic. Hallow at this point. Not enough air? 10 years too early? Bottle variation?
