Truncated dinner party notes. Still youthful but soft and resolving enough to really enjoy with mesquite grilled lamb chops.

A classified growth Bordeaux is not normally my Thursday evening tipple but for some unknown reason I felt a little like celebrating. This is drinking quite well right now. Nose opens with just a little air to show cassis and blackberry, leather, moist gravel, and a subtle graphite note. In the mouth, it’s got medium concentration, with soft but abundant tannins in the background and surprisingly good acids. In the drier side. Not a blockbuster or long ager, but quite elegant.

Bold, dark fruit, spice. Solid Bordeaux.

2015 vintage. Very nice wine, even if I expected a bit more weight on the mid palate. Long, mineral finish.

2015 vintage. Light-medium body (unusual for Pauillac of this age). Raspberry, tobacco and silt in the finishing flavors. Tasted twice previously in the last few years with consistent notes.

A 5th Growth from the left bank of Bordeaux, driven on 70% Cab Sauv and 30% Merlot. It has the finesse and the style of Pauillac wines. Elegant and quite complex, highly aromatic and has abundance of tannins while shining on the finish. Warm and active! Chateau owners also have Lynch-Baches and Ormes de Pez.
