Not the best of vintage in Bdx, but the winemaker clearly pulled off some acrobatics here. Nose displays the usual Cos spice-box signature, along with notes of forest floor, sage and mushrooms. Palate is rich and dense showing no signs of age. Nice mature casis profile links up with brambles and sandalwood. Tannins continue to prop up this outstanding example.

This is a glorious expression of Bdx. A left bank example which is strutting its stuff. 18 years in, its beginning to reveal cigar and cedar notes on the nose. Palate displays cherries, spice box, cinnamon and kirsch. No rush to consume these. Easily another 10 years of runway ahead of it.

I am admittedly a #cosgirl and this wine was everything that I love about great Bordeaux, silky fruit-laden texture without overt density or weight, and gorgeous graphite, dried herb, leather, licorice and earth notes.

Weekly Wine Committee. 1 sparkler, 3-4 whites, 3-4 reds and 1 dessert wine format. Served blind. I called this left bank Bordeaux from the get go. It showed a ripe side at first but quickly settled in to some saddle leather, pepper, tar, tobacco and bay leaf. Power is in the mid palate and finish here as tannins were still strong. Black tea, black cherry, oak and a streak of greeness down the palate. No rush.
