Last night I opened the 2009 Château Cambon la Pelouse. Left Bank Bordeaux from Macau in the Haut-Medoc. A blend of 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, tobacco, licorice, cedar, charcoal anddark earth. On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, cedar, licorice and pencil shavings. This wine is full bodied with a silky smooth mouthfeel medium acidity and medium fine tannins that leaves you with a medium to medium + long fleshy dark fruit earthy finish. Please have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia!

Drank 6/1/17 with a Ribeye Steak. Excellent pairing. Nose of black currant, cherry, and a hint of green bell pepper. Palate of black currant, licorice, and cocoa powder. Medium body with silky, well integrated tannins. Medium to long finish. 3/21/9/4/4 +50= 91 pts

Good value, solid structure, but tannins are a bit tough. Will get better.

Had in the back of the wine locker and said what the hell. What a surprise. This is terrific. Huge difference from last tasting 6 yrs ago - but as I said then, it had potential!!! Shows cherries, currant, cigar box, forest floor and finishes with crushed gravel. In a good place now, and probably for another few years.

Here's my advice. Any 2009 Bordeaux...Leave it alone for at least another five years. And that's just for the Haut Medoc. God only knows for the heavy hitters. (If there is a Delectable way not to rate a wine please let me know.) September, 2020: Took a peek and was pretty impressed with the journey. So I’m upping it to 8.8. Perhaps BBQ pork ribs with charred sweet white corn was all that the wine needed.
