Switzerland might be outside your normal wine rotation, but this bottle is a nice reminder of the benefits of moving a little beyond your comfort zone. This wine is 100% Heida-Paien, which is the local name for the grape known as Savagnin in the Jura. The wine shares some of the briny, mineral character of Jurassic Savagnin but is made in a non-oxidative style. The historic site known as Les Bernunes gives this wine uncommon depth complexity and makes for a wine you'll be thinking about long after your last sip.

My first Swiss wine ever and it did not disappoint. Paired it with a soup-stew that is a cross of minestrone and pasta e fagioli, and it was perfect. Easy on the tongue.
