2016 Vignasparse (scattered vines) from Cantina del Glicine is a remarkable bottle of Barbaresco that seamlessly combines depth and structure with freshness and accessibility.andnbsp;Roberto Bruno and Adriana Marzia always produced the wines at this tiny estate in a traditional mold; fermentations occurred in steel with native yeasts and aging took place in botti between 14 and 25 HL.andnbsp; The wine is expressive right out of the gate with a distinctively bold bent for a Barbaresco. Black cherries lead out with loads of pungent spices and rich veins of earth lifted by just a hint of blood orange. The palate is firm and impeccably balanced with a fair amount of fine, ripe tannins up front braced by bright acidity and a distinctly mineral finish. Tasted over the course of a few days, the wine never dropped off, instead opening up into a much more floral expression as the tannins slowly resolved. The 2016 Vignasparse is sure to have a long life ahead of it in the cellar and will comfortably age for 10-20 years or more.andnbsp;A real triumph for the last vintage of this stalwart estate.
