The Levet family are among the most dependable sources every vintage for uncompromisingly old-school Cote-Rotie. These are not wines of flash, but they are full of character, expertly poised and perform magically with proper age. The wines tend towards the earthy, savory, spicy end of the spectrum and a more subtle expression. This character isandnbsp;due in no small part to the large percentage ofandnbsp;sandeacute;rineandnbsp;that the Levetsandnbsp;tend, which is a particularly thin skinned and small berried version of Syrah. Chavaroche is a single vineyard in the Cote Brune, where the dark soils turn out wines of impressive intensity and structure.andnbsp;
