Azienda Agricola Maccario - Dringenberg Luvaira Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore 2017

$32.99

Giovanna Maccarioandnbsp;is in charge of the Maccarioandnbsp;Dringenberg estate today, where Rossese takes center stage. She and her husband Goetz Dringenberg workandnbsp;their old vines (some are 120+ years old) in the ancient albarello/bush trained system in order to protect the vines from the often extreme conditions of the area. Tractors are not an option in this steep terrain, so all the work is done by hand. All of the Dringenberg wines are vinified in steel tanks to maintain the unique aromatic expression of this captivating variety. Luvaira, a single vineyard site, is always a stunner andndash; layers and layers of spice and nuance and remarkable freshness for a wine that possesses so much depth. This wine is only made in top vintages.andnbsp; andnbsp;

Awesome wine. Nose is ripe but full of fresh black cherry; cherry liquer, herbal notes, some bay. Beautiful red fruit acid driven wine with lots of minerals on the palate. Rossese has got to be the varietal find of the year for me. So lithe and pure and delicious. But I think this will develop for years.
