After his own family's vineyards were sold off following his grandfather's passing, Filippo had the fortune of acquiring 2+ha of old vines to revive his family's legacy and establish his own estate.andnbsp;These low yielding vineyards include the prized Calderara Sottana and other parcels around 2000+ ft above sea level on the northern slopes of Mt. Etna.andnbsp;Everything here is done by hand, and with all of the hard work in the vineyard, Filippo just needs to 'respect the grape.'andnbsp;This wineandnbsp;is 100% Nerello Mascalese from 60 year old vines planted inandnbsp;the vineyard ( contrada ) of Calderara Sottana. This and#39;15 is a graceful expression, spicy, with fine-grained structure and wonderfully pureandnbsp;dark fruits.
