André et Michel Quenard Vieilles Vignes Chignin Mondeuse 2014

$23.99

If Gamay and Syrah had a baby, it would be called Mondeuse! This particular wineandnbsp;has theandnbsp;freshness and brightness that you'd expect of a wine coming from higher altitude (many 70+ year old) vines planted on the rockiest soil imaginable. It'sandnbsp;vinifiedandnbsp;with native yeasts using a portion of whole clusters and aged in neutral oakandnbsp;foudresandnbsp;and bottled unfiltered. There isandnbsp;aandnbsp;depth and complexity here that you might not expect to find in such an imminently drinkable wine and we canand#39;t stop reaching for these bottles ourselves.

Stewed cherries, juicy raspberries, hay, slight menthol, and juicy berries to finish. Medium body with serious fruit structure.

Wow! This wine looks beautiful - bright ruby. And also bright flavor all around with barnyard and pepper - pierced by tannin and acidity. Got a couple more bottles that I am going to age. Praise to high elevation.
