Big bright soft and gummy plum nose with warm chocolate melting seductively. There is black currant with a green streak, latte but somehow jungle infused, chicory cream, and all in a cedar lined oaken box lined with rose petals. Tart entry spreads to envelope bing and then black cherry, deep currant, blackberry tea, licorice textures, unopened rose blossoms, green tobacco with a sharp, though not hot point, cinnamon, cassia. A young 10, with potential to go further, but what a gorgeous, hungry climber! #moutonrothschild #mouton #pauillac #bordeauxgrandcru #bordeaux #grandcruclassé #grandcru #firstgrowthbordeaux #firstgrowth

The 2010 Mouton is one of the most delicious and extraordinary wines I've ever tasted. It is utterly beguiling in its intensity and complexity. Sipping a glass will reveal more and more layers over time. It was a little difficult to wrap my head around it initially. Everything is in perfect balance. Purely exquisite. (Interestingly, the label is by Jeff Koons whose Balloon Dog (Orange) just had its record beaten by Hockney (2014 vintage Mouton)'s Pool as the most expensive artwork by a leaving artist.)

Fresh turned earth and gravel, deep dark red fruits. This wine needs a few more years.

2010. From my limited experience with these wines it seemed gentle for Mouton - which I liked, on a personal note. More acid, less power, mild tannins. Smoky, spice box, sour cherry, tobacco. I'd like to try it again in 7-10 years. #FancyWine
