Gorgeous silky plummy fruit. Violet and some gnarly fruit. Lovely stuff- long.

Lean and deep plum. Iodine, steeliness, herbal notes, iron and graphite. Quite savory. Precise and balanced. Excellent

Delicious plummy fruit. Soft and supple and silly in the mouth. Plums, iron, damson. Very opulent but still a little contained. All the 2000’s need a bit more time to really shine.

2000 Cheval Blanc with a blend of almost 50:50 Merlot & Cabernet Franc, even though some reports say 53:47 dominate Merlot (not all CB are dominate CF). Tasted with 03, 05, 05 and I had this vintage a few years back, and I must say the tannins have come a long way- lush, almost melts into the wine. Explosion of blueberry and cassis with tarragon, smoked meats, and bark. Even though it is such a pleasure now I have a feeling it has a lot more to give.

A decent amount of bottle variation on these but mighty tasty. Good fruit/tertiary balance here

One of the most prized Right Bank Bordeaux from the legendary Cheval Blanc, these were in great shape and strutting their stuff, both plenty open but indicating to me decades of life ahead of them. The 2000 was especially complex, showing more range in complexity with a little more length and density. The 2005 was concentrated and pure, brimming with black and red fruit, licorice and a trace of rock and mineral buried under the fat of a generous weather vintage. #chevalblanc #saintemilion #cabernetfranc #merlot

Of the 21 different vintages of Cheval Blanc we had this evening, the 2000 was my favorite. Not surprising given the 2000 vintage was one of the best in recent history. Rich and elegant fruit with an earthy nose. Tannins smoothing but still firm suggesting that another 10 years wouldn't hurt.
