Vajra's 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo is a decidedly brooding, powerful wine that overdelivers big time. Sweet red berry fruit, mint, spice and earthy notes add complexity as the 2018 opens up in the glass. The Nebbiolo emerges from a parcel in Sinio just outside the Barolo production zone. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2019)

Ruby with notes of red fruits and floral scents. On the palate elegant red fruits with notes of blueberry and earthy dried lavender. Good balance, soft fine tannins, medium finish ending with fruit and earthy character. Nice value. Consistent quality.

Young Nebbiolo!!! Yesssss. This worked. Tannins in check, bright fruit, moderate acidity. What’s the magic? Hope it’s not alchemy in the cellar.
